Introduction | The Farming for Resilience (F4R) Project renders support to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR) and other partner institutions, including small-holder farmers and agricultural cooperatives, to improve the climatic, economic and physical resilience of the Namibian food and agriculture sector. |

Specification | - Coordinates and implements project interventions under component one - Independently develops area of responsibility according to identified intervention needs and set quality standards - Supports the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform and other partner institutions on small-holder seed production - Is responsible for the procurement under component one (development of specifications/tender documents, evaluation of bids, supervision of installation and quality control) - Compiles reports and summary papers on project activities related to component one and contribute to the projects’ reporting and official communication - Researches latest developments in the seed markets and liaises with local and regional suppliers - Closely monitors and reports on relevant seed programs by the Namibian government and/or developmental actors and formulates proposals for synergistic project interventions - Supports the projects’ monitoring and evaluation systems by ensuring that all project interventions are recorded and submits data and reports as requested by the Data Professional |

Requirements | - University degree (equivalent to MSc) in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture or a related field with a particular focus on plant breeding, plant biology, climate-adapted varieties, seed production or similar in Southern Africa - At least 3 years’ professional experience in seed production and/or plant breeding of relevant Namibian crops (maize, millet, sorghum) and vegetables - Previous practical and research experience with climate-adapted varieties (especially staple crops) - Excellent understanding of the Namibian agronomy and horticulture sector, including the peculiarities of small-scale/subsistence production systems - Extensive understanding of impacts of climate change in the Namibian context - Proven knowledge and practical expertise in agricultural and organizational development with a focus on small-holder seed production, inclusive business models (contract farming), farm management, plant breeding and cooperation with political partners, universities and private sector players - Strong didactical skills and proven experience in adult learning - good working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office) - strong managerial, organizational and time-management competencies - willingness to travel regularly - excellent knowledge of English, working knowledge of at least one vernacular and/or German will be an advantage - pronounced communication and cooperation skills - solution-oriented, independent and diligent work ethic - ability to work under minimal supervision and time pressure Request - Vacany Announcement JTP (Component I - Seed Production and Multiplication) - willingness to up-skill and inherent interest in furt |
