Introduction
The Farming for Resilience (F4R) Project renders support to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR) and other partner institutions, including small-holder farmers and agricultural cooperatives, to improve the climatic, economic and physical resilience of the Namibian food and agriculture sector.

Specification
- Coordinates and implements project interventions under component two
- Independently develops area of responsibility according to identified intervention needs and set quality standards
- Supports the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform and other partner institutions on horticulture and climate-smart irrigation
- Is responsible for the procurement under component two(development of specifications/tender documents, evaluation of bids, supervision of installation and quality control)
- Compiles reports and summary papers on project activities related to component two and contributes to the projects’ reporting and official communication
- Researches latest developments in climate-smart irrigation technologies and liaises with local and regional suppliers
- Closely monitors and reports on relevant horticulture and/or irrigation programs by the Namibian government and/or developmental actors and formulates proposals for synergistic project interventions
- Supports the projects’ monitoring and evaluation systems by ensuring that all project interventions are recorded and submits data and reports as requested by the data

Requirements
- University degree (equivalent to MSc) in Horticulture, Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Water and/or Irrigation Management or a related field with a particular focus on horticultural production and irrigation in Southern Africa
- At least 5 years’ professional experience in horticultural production, applied research and/or irrigation technology/management within Namibia
- Previous practical experience with climate-adapted crop and vegetable varieties
- Excellent understanding of the Namibian agronomy and horticulture sector, including the peculiarities of small-scale/subsistence production systems
- Extensive understanding of impacts of climate change in the Namibian context
- Deep technical understanding of climate-smart irrigation systems and water supply technology
- Profound expertise in agricultural and organizational development with a focus on horticultural production in small-scale/subsistence set-ups, inclusive business models (contract farming), farm management, climate-smart irrigation systems and cooperation with political partners, universities and private sector players
- Strong didactical skills and proven experience in adult learning
- good working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
- strong managerial, organizational and time-management competencies
- willingness to travel regularly
- excellent knowledge of English, working knowledge
of at least one vernacular and/or German will be an advantage
- pronounced communication and cooperation skills
- solution-oriented, independent and diligent work ethic
- ability to work under minimal supervision and time pressure
- willingness to up-skill and inherent interest in further professional qualification
